Countdown to Christmas
Countdown to Christmas
Every year I fill an advent calendar for my children to count down the days until Christmas. This year we will be sporting three different types. Our traditional one, a cardboard one filled with chocolate and a Lego version. The latter two were gifts from their grandmothers.
For those of you who wish to create your own version, here are some of my favorites. Click the sourcing information for tutorials.
Fill holes of a muffin tin with mini gifts and cover with festive cardstock. Punch holes at the end and string with a sturdy ribbon for a cute way countdown the days until Christmas.
Mini favor tins are glued to a picture frame (sans glass) with the back covered in decorative paper. You could do something similar with a metal tray and sticky magnets.
Hang this advent garland from your mantel. Triangular boxes made from cardstock and hung with pretty ribbon are the perfect place for little trinkets. Paper cones stuffed with tissue paper would work as well.
If you are more a minimalist, this advent is for you. Simple brown boxes with white stickers pinned to a board are all it takes to make your own advent calendar.
Get two for one with this cute advent idea. Create a christmas village by decorating the houses each slightly differently and use the numbers 1 -25 as the addresses.

Believe it or not there are only 42 days left until Christmas! Make your own one-of-a-kind advent calendar and create a new family tradition. It may even help you get into the Christmas spirit!
