7 Common Design Eyesores and How to Hide Them

There is a famous saying "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." Most of us have a feature in our home that we don't love. An eyesore, or something that just isn't your style. While ripping it out and starting over is an option, there are much less expensive ways to totally transform your space without breaking your budget.

These spaces show you how.

Knotty pine paneling and bookcases instantly become stylish with a few coats of paint. All you need is a good primer and the paint color of your choice.

Transform a fireplace with a new surround, drywall and moulding. Either repaint or replace the glass doors. Painting the adjacent cabinetry black, also updates the space. Removing the shelves makes room for a flat screen t.v.

If you want to update your slab doors, add moulding and repaint them a new hue. Simple changes can make a big impact.

Make your soffits disappear by adding moulding. Painting the soffit to match the cabinets and adding simple pieces of trim are all it takes to pull off this magic trick.

Hide outdated accent tiles in your backsplash, or add pizazz to an outdated look with tile tattoos. They come in a variety of styles and colors and simply are applied with water. They are easily removed as well.
