The Simple Beauty of Modern Design
Recently I have had some projects where modern design is the focus. While my style generally trends toward transitional, I am beginning to think modern may be the way to go. Soft colors, clean lines and a sophisticated feel all are hallmarks of this design style.
Modern style mixes woods and metals, keeps things clean and uses decor with simple lines. While some may think it feels cold, to me it says relaxing and sophisticated. The key to modern design is softening the hard edges with textures and colors. Round shades on square lamps, covering sofas and chairs in linen, leather or velvet, wood walls and differing shades of the same hue all work together to make a clean and restful space.
